| On lit souvent que la Coupe Gordon Bennett du 28 août 1909 était la premier course d'avions. Ce n'est pas vrai, il y avait réellement une saison entière des courses en 1909, et il y avait quelques plus petits événements avant. La première course d'air a été organisée le 23 mai 1909 à Port-Aviation, sud de Paris. Quatre pilotes ont eu l'intention de participer. Léon Delagrange, pilotant un Voisin, n'a pas accompli le cours, mais a été déclaré le gagnant. Anders (I hope the text is understandable in French - here it is in English: You often read that the 28 August 1909 Gordon Bennett Trophy was the first air race. This is not true, there was actually an entire season of air racing in 1909, and there were several smaller events before. The world's first air race was held on 23 May 1909 at Port-Aviation, south of Paris. Four pilots entered. Léon Delagrange, flying a Voisin, did not complete the course, but was declared the winner.
